It has been a big few months at WASZP headquarters, with many exciting projects taking place.
We are well into organising the WASZP Games, which will be a fantastic event like no-other on the sailing calendar. With the entries rolling in and under 70 days till the action starts in Campione, Univela, it is a great time to be a part of this ever growing class.
We have also added to our list of agents around the world to ensure more people have access to expertise and can enjoy the WASZP in more places than ever before.
We can't wait to see what the next few months brings as we move into the northern summer with eager anticipation.
Throughout the first part of 2017 orders for the WASZP continue to be strong.
At the end of April, 363 boats had been shipped from the factory in the 10 months since WASZP launched. We are thrilled with the progress and the continued positive response we are receiving from new owners.
WASZP’s are now sailing in 30 countries with boats shipping far and wide – recent boats have gone north to Russia and down south into New Caledonia in the Pacific.
By region the EU has had the most WASZP’s with 131 shipped till end April, then North America with 105, Asia Pacific 103 and South America 24.
Through April, the USA has the most boats of any country with 92 boats shipped (and many more on order), then New Zealand (55), Australia (38), Norway (24) then the UK (21).
Here is a detailed breakdown of where the WASZP’s have landed so far:
Forward momentum and orders remain buoyant.
We are well on the way to 500 boats on the water in the coming months.
Production capacity remains solid, even as orders for the Northern summer roll through.
With some good planning and building inventory at the factory the lead-time from a deposit to shipment is holding at 2-3 weeks at present.

To support our growth, we continue to add more WASZP Agents and Ambassadors around the world.
Local support is now also available in Norway, France, Germany & Austria, Ireland, The Netherlands as well as Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary.
That brings the total number of countries/regions with local WASZP resources to 22, with more to be announced soon.
See the full list and contact details HERE to talk WASZP, get assistance with ordering, organise a test sail, source spares and meet other local sailors.
You can also email sales@waszp.com with questions at any time.
Under the Ask WASZP section of the website is a variety of written and video resources for set-up and tweaking your boat.
We have had good feedback about the WASZP assembly and rigging videos. We are working on more tuning and technique footage.
One new upload is the 'Pre-Flight' checklist.
Foiling boats are subject to extreme loads and require a little more attention to esnure best performance is maintained.
The checklist is a a very useful guide for all WASZP owners to make sure that they maximise time on the water and get the best out of the boat.
We recommend that all WASZPer's undertake these checks before every sail.
WASZP sailors have been great in giving us feedback and suggestions to improve the boat.
A couple of requests came up frequently so we’ve gone ahead and developed them.
The Cruiser range, as the name implies, is all about extending the enjoyment of the WASZP when sailing for fun. Products in this range are not class legal for racing.
The Cruiser foil is an extended length main horizontal designed as a very light wind/very heavy guy solution. The aim is to provide a little extra lift to initiate/sustain foiling in marginal conditions.
The aluminum section is 11cm longer in overall length. It uses the same plastic wing tips.
All other control system fittings are common.
There are a couple of practical limitations. The extra width makes the foil stick out past the trolley. This makes tipping the boat over on the beach/shallow water a sure way to trash the tips.
Difference between main horizontal cruiser foil and racing foil
The Cruiser Tramps incorporate an oversized external bladder to deliver a pontoon like effect. They have approximately 30% more volume than regular external bladders.
They add a serious amount of stability for learning – great for kids, schools, bigger folks and first time foilers seeking a more stable platform.

At present the Cruiser range is only available by request. If you are interested please email: sales@waszp.com
The inaugural WASZP Games is now less than 70 days away. Excitement is building and a solid fleet of 50+ is expected. Plans are well underway at Campione, Univela to make this the must-do event of the year.
We are working on some innovative racing formats, these will suit competitors of all standards and skill sets. Our aim is to provide quality championship racing with something for everyone mixed in.
There will be on-water video analysis and coaching at designated times. The WASZP team will also allow time after racing to analyse techniques and work on the different skills required to sail a WASZP at the top level.
Off the water we are looking at various ways to encompass everyone. We want to make it a family friendly event and also bring the beach party culture to sailing. Activities like Stand-up-paddle, snorkelling and mountain bike riding are all readily available at Campione, Univela. Then enjoy the hospitality and music with old and new friends.
WASZP will provide an on-site workshop to assist sailors with any issues that they can stay on the water. A full inventory of spare parts will be available.
In anticipation of the big event, we have created an EVENT FACEBOOK PAGE. This will be a source of all information relating to the games.
Go to the WASZP Games Facebook page and like/share by May 31 to go into a draw to win sweet WASZP gear.

Atlantic Coast Championships
With the WASZP Games fast approaching, class associations are mobilising and starting to host some quality events. We had the New Zealand nationals 2 months ago and now we have had a major regatta on the East Coast of America.
The Atlantic Coast Championships were held at Toms River Yacht Club in New Jersey, a solid fleet enjoyed fantastic conditions and a great warm-up regatta for the WASZP Games in Lake Garda later this year.
