TAKING FLIGHT – The WASZP Story!

“Taking Flight” is an epic insight into this young class and its impact in a short period of time on the sailing world. Since production began in late 2016 over 800 boats have been produced worldwide, however it is not the number that is the most impressive, being able to provide a destination for 18-35 years olds who were destined to drop out of the sport is probably the greatest achievement of the boat.

The short film takes us on a journey from the thought process behind the design and the team at WASZP HQ behind the product. It then focuses on the lifestyle created around events and why the boat is so accessible to so many people.

Many of the sailors have given their time to the documentary and their insights on why they love the boat is amazing, we look at how the SailGP INSPIRE program is going to create a pathway into professional sailing using the WASZP.

The WASZP is changing the game, it is changing the perception of sailing and it is not afraid to try things outside of normal thinking to create a sustainable environment for the sport!
